The Training Course

The training course is aimed at journalists, communication professionals and others interested to learn more about the use of data visualization in their reporting or in their daily work.
It will give participants the opportunity to learn about:
1st Module – Sourcing/Mining and Cleaning Data;
2nd Module – Visualizing and Analysing Data;
3rd Module – Mapping Data;
4th Module – Crowdsourcing and Mobile.

Tools as Google Maps, Google Earth, Google Fusion Tables, Crowdmap, Ushahidi and Geocommons, among others will be used during the training sessions.

The “Flag it” trainer is Gustavo Faleiros: collaborator at OECO and Knight International Journalism fellow.

The training course is organised by the European Youth Press in partnership with: Internews, the association “O Eco”, the Young Friends of the Earth Europe, the Philippines Network of Environmental Journalists, the Nigerian Association of Science Journalists, YouthPress Romania and the Latvian Forum for European Journalists Students.

The training was held:
- in Sao Paulo (Brazil – 20/26 May 2013 – Gallery Post training survey);
- in Lagos (Nigeria – 1/7 July 2013 – Gallery Post training survey);
- in Brussels (Belgium – 6/8 October 2013);
- in Bucharest (Romania – 7/13 October 2013 – Gallery Post training survey).
